I read in Jerry's old M-17 brochure that the '80s-era boats have 580 pounds of ballast. Does that figure include the cast iron centerboard, which I believe Jerry has said weighs about 170 pounds, or is it only the iron shot glassed into the keel, as one entry on the MSOG site suggests? I'm just curious in case I someday have to do a ballast changeout on Sapphire. Happy holidays to everyone! Gordon 1983 M-17 "Sapphire" Milwaukee
my understanding is that that ballast number is centerboard + what is in the skeg keel. dave scobie M17 #375 - SWEET PEA visit SWEET PEA's www-site - http://www.m17-375.webs.com --- On Mon, 12/21/09, Gordon Gilbert <Gordon@FinancialWriting.net> wrote: I read in Jerry's old M-17 brochure that the '80s-era boats have 580 pounds of ballast.
