Gang, I have never done swaging or watched the process, so I have to ask an ignorant question (actually, a question means one is ignorant about something, I suppose). I need to put a new fitting at the end a stay, but cutting the old fitting off and re-swaging will make the wire too short. Is it possible to remove a swaged fitting without wrecking the wire, or perhaps not put the wire all the way into the new fitting so it won't use so much? The fitting will take 1 3/4" of wire, but I would like to use only 1". Thanks, Tom Jenkins
Tom, not my area but I would doubt it would be worth saving the cable. I plan on replacing my standing rigging after this season and am looking to use Sta-Lock (http://www.stalok.com/) instead of swaging. Might be a good option for you as well. Robbin On 7/16/2011 7:59 PM, Tom Jenkins wrote:

Robbin, The gizmo I am attaching to my stay has a swage-type stud that cannot be removed without repercussions, so I will not go the Sta-lok route this time around. It is a good system, however, so next time I do rigging I will probably go that way. One of the nice things about these little boats is doing one's own tasks. Thanks for the advice. The other option is to have Jerry build your standing rigging. If you can get him to stop talking long enough to do it. t On Sun, Jul 17, 2011 at 3:29 PM, robbin roddewig <robbin.roddewig@verizon.net> wrote:
