Re: M_Boats: Mast fitting for whisker pole
Howard, Check out Mauri Pro Sailing for their pricing - NFIW but I find good prices and excellent service esp. if it is a "part number order" GO In a message dated 8/2/2009 10:02:56 A.M. I carry two whisker poles on Audasea. Smaller one is 1 inch (too small) and larger 1 1/4" diameter at 6' to 12' is just right. Forespare with the spike end. The lexan fitting for that is probably Forespar #300025. West Marine catalog has about 10 options to chose from, again, depending on the size of your pole and mast. The one on my boat came installed, but is metal, not plastic. I also use it to anchor the clevis ends of both halyards when I drop the sails. That larger whisker pole is one of my favorite pieces of equipment. Anytime the wind goes aft of the beam, it's a big plus to get that out there. A lot better sail shape and they don't flog around as much in light air and chop from the powerboats. Howard On Aug 2, 2009, at 8:46 AM, JDavies104@aol.com wrote:
Does anyone have a part number or size, etc. for the eye strap fitting for the mast end of a whisker pole for an M-17 mast?

GO: Good information!!! For reference, I priced Mauri for the 6-12 foot HD Whisker pole (although I've used the same Regular Forespar 6-12 whisker pole for close to 10 years and have not had any problems with it yet): http://mauriprosailing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc? Screen=PROD&Product_Code=FOR406300&Category_Code=FORHEA Roughly $305 vs. $390 for the same thing from WM. I won't say I've stopped buying from WM entirely, as they have two stores within 90 miles of me. Sometimes, you need things today, and there is only one other local option I'm aware of in Missouri I can go for sail related stuff such as blocks, running rigging, etc. But I have found a lot of other options when time allows. I'll put Mauri down as one of them. Howard On Aug 2, 2009, at 1:38 PM, GILASAILR@aol.com wrote:
