Just out of curiosity, is it possible to fabricate a single mast from two bent masts? Assuming you can find a second mast that has not gone postal. Inquiring minds want to know (but I hope I never have to do it), steve Steve R. Steve, You could probably butt the two salvaged segments, then add a doubler around the joint with several diameters length on each side of the mating ends. Then weld a fish-mouth on each end, and a weld parallel to, and adjacent to, each side of the slot in which the sail slides. Of course, the aluminum of the mast and the added aluminum would have to be weldable. This procedure is used in repairing steel tubing in aircraft structures. Personally, I think I'd just bite the bullet and buy a new mast, and salvage all the hardwate from the bent one. Sorry you're not going to make it to the reunion this weekend. Maybe some other time.
