While going thru some old files I found a collection of old letters that were apparently saved for intertainment value. Offering to share them with you, I hope none of them were FROM you! Dear Mr. Montgomery: I just bought a 1975 Montgomery 17. I would like to know the name and function of the round thing about the size of a cup between the black piece and the door? Also, how does one put the sheets up? Dear Mr. Montgomery: We have one of your sailboats and we have enjoyed it but the kids get tired of going slow and want to waterski. My brother-in-law has offered to let me use his old motor, which is a Mercury 40 hp but it looks like it won't fit on my boat. Do you have any suggestions? Should I remove the rudder? Dear Montgomery People: I have one of your boats and I'm having some repair work done and the repairman asked me if I could contact the factory and find out the proper color to use. Could you tell me what the color is? I think it is a 1977 model. Dear Sirs: I have a lightweight sailboat that seems to be leaking. Do you think I should fiberglass it? How would I go about that? Do you have any scraps of fiberglass laying around that you could send me? My daughter is in the Girl Scouts. Dear Sirs: I would appreciate it very much if you could help me by answering some questions. I just started sailing and when I go towards the beach the boat tips more than when I'm going away from the beach, and it doesn't appear to like going to the beach because it will not turn one way. Any hints? Dear Sirs: I have a chance to buy one of your 26 footer MacGregor sailboats but I hear that they tip easily. How much wind will they take before tipping too much? The boat has a 15 horsepower motor. Is this enough to get me in fast if it gets rough? Dear Sirs: Last weekend while driving my boat down the hiway, a tire fell off. Could you tell me why this happened? My boat is only four years old. Should tires be lubricated? Jerry
Come clean Tod, these are from you aren't they? I recall the days before and soon after you acquired your boat, you did have a lot of questions. :>) Mike
