4x4 is nice. I haven't tried it yet, but I believe you could launch from the beach. Sand is very much worse than snow. A 2WD truck just can't be resold in Michigan for very good reasons: they're almost impossible to drive in the winter. Without the lockig diff, you've got a 1x1. That was about $450 on the Chevy, does that match what you've been looking at?
