The only mod to the hank on procedure you are currently using is the insertion if a wire in the luff of your jib which then become the fore sail. This one says in Harken's product info that it is for furling only, not reefing, just in case that matters for anyone's application. I take that to mean fully furled or fully deployed are the two operating modes for it...not partly furled (reefed).

So how does this deal with the bulk of the jib still free to blow and slide and flap around on the foredeck? If I need to douse it other than just coming home, it's probably because it's too windy to keep it up safely. Even with a jib sheet taut, there is a lot of fabric free to flap. cheers, John S. John If it is windy enough to blow the jib around I will stand in the open hatch with a sail tie and chinch down the end of the sail as far forward that I can reach and with the jib sheets and down haul tight it works for me. Most of the time that is not necessary as the forward motion of the boat under power tends to lay the jib flat on the deck.
