Re: M_Boats: RE: Bow Chock - montgomery_boats Digest, Vol 6, Issue 13
Hi Don & Nancy, I added bow chocks to my M15. The chocks I bought had a bigger footprint than the width of the toe rail. First I cut the toe rail down to about less than half it's previous height - looking out my window at the M15 I'd say it is about 3/8" high. Then, because the footprint of the chock was wider than the toe rail, I made teak filler pieces to make a proper chock base; bedded them on the bottom and epoxy glued them to the toe rail. When I drilled the holes for the fasteners, I first drilled them oversize; then filled the holes with thickened epoxy. When that had hardened, I re drilled them to the correct size, and did the final installation, using elastic stopnuts. That way there is no chance for water to get into the balsa core. They have worked well now for about three years, so I have no improvements or modifications to suggest. Connie M15 #400 LEPPO
