Same here everyone ....Happy Thanksgiving from me, 'Jo and yes, of course...you guessed it ...the one and only "B" man!!! I also cannot even tell you how much pleasure this group has brought to my life over the last 4 years. We've made friends that otherwise we would have never met. And what an outstanding and eclectic group it is. I've met everyone from a crazy Lineman from the Northwest, retirees from Texas, a Potato expert that has traveled the world, medical folks, writers/authors/journalists, corporate executives, extremely successful business folks, "average Joes" just like myself...and the list goes on and on. Incredible. The coolest thing? When we all get together I have yet to see an ego in the bunch. It's a beautiful thing. So....thank you Monty Group for 4 years of sharing information, helpful hints, conversation, company, get-togethers, and most importantly, FRIENDSHIP. You have made my life richer by far and I mean that sincerely. And I would like to throw in there....THANK YOU to all that are serving our country both here and overseas. Regardless of any politics...the men and women who volunteer to put it all on the line because they believe in our country are what has made, and will continue to make, everything that we enjoy possible. THANK YOU THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! from the bottom of my heart. Sean, 'Jo and yes, of course...Bosun! :-)
I have my Port Barlow 15 winch disassembled and cleaned. I used 3-1 oil soaked paper towels to clean it up. Could those of you that have done this before recommend light oil and grease for putting it back together? I know the West Marine has some products but I was hoping not to have to make the one hour trip to the store today. Cheers Robbin
There is a light, teflon grease that is perfect, and it's a industrial hardware item. I bought a half-pint can at least 25 years ago and it's still going strong. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "robbin roddewig" <robbin.roddewig@verizon.net> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, November 27, 2009 4:48 AM Subject: M_Boats: happiness is winch maintenance

Sorry for the additional mail, forgot to say that there is a great resource for those that have the Barlow winches at http://l-36.com/winches/barlow15.htm and a vendor for replacement parts http://www.huttonwinches.com/products/service Robbin
