The pictures appears to have been taken from Fort Point. At low tide the water can be very shallow between the south tower and Fort Point. Sailors use this route to catch the eddys when the current in the main channel are going the opposite direction. During the mid 60's I crewed on a Cal 40 "Kumu" on the Ocean series and Bay races. On one particular race the skipper of, I believe Montgomery Street, another Cal 40 decided to take the route between the south tower and Fort Point to catch the eddys. The keel hit a rock and the skipper flew forward into the cabin, losing his front teeth. It does appear to be a Santana 22. I used to sail my Cal 20 through the same slot during MORCA races, but never at low tide or with that kind of surf. Rich Cottrell "Really"
