Left Coasters get the first shot at this. Bob Eeg just sent in 29 new pictures of the new M-23. This is where it gets exciting. Doug Thanks for loading the photos so fast. Joe, I use a SONY DSC-S75 Digital Camera.. Its 3.3 Mega Pixels and works very well. It was a hot item last year and I think you can get some good deals. I bought mine at "Best Buy". Its neat that you can take more than 800 photos with one memory chip. Edit or delete at will. Zoom 6X, etc. You have to buy a SONY memory stick mouse. (no roller balls, but has a red light underneath) You shove the memory stick into the slot on this mouse and a new icon appears in 'My Computer' called 'removable disc'. Click on that and all the photos you took appear in a numbered row. (hundreds even). Click on each number and a small (2" by 2") picture appears. Really neat. When you send email, then just click "attach" and then this file appears. Attach what you number photo you want. I don't see how we got along without this stuff till now.....hehehe. Get a good printer and some photo paper and you can print your own stuff. Fair winds Bob Doug King wrote:

Doug & Bob, Yippee for us Left Coasters! Those are splendiferous pictures of the new M23. What a dreamboat! She's yar! A visit to the factory is definitely in order the next time I'm in Southern California. And thanks for the information about your digital camera, Bob. I'm really impressed with the quality of the pictures taken with your Sony. Practically all of the new digital cameras have memory sticks, flash cards, etc., and come with computer programs to make them user friendly. To date, because of costs and size, I have not considered cameras above 2 megapixals. But who knows... Joe Kidd M15 #207 "Poco A Poco"
Never thought I'd be interested in giving up Carol II but I can see a Carol III in my future ! Lovely, classy, but tough looking lady ! Stan M-15, #177, Carol II
I find that the mid sheet arrangement of the main is a real problem with more than one person in the boat. The crew is always in the way of the sheet. What other arrangements are being used? Ken Abrahams, M15, Petite Fleur, Lake Charles, La.
Ken, I made a foot board for my wife to use when we sail. It is a board that fits into the hatchway. I've fastened a couple of braces on it so that she can gain a foothold without reaching all the way across the cockpit. We'll be trying it for the first time this weekend. I'll let you know if it does the job and include a photo. Stan M-15, #177, Carol II
Hi Ken, I too wish to rearrange my mainsheet control and am in the process of looking at the various methods. My reason is to provide the room for some sort of shade as it is getting pretty warm here in Phoenix. Right now I am experimenting with a large Windbrella inserted into a pivoting fishing rod holder attached to the lower hatch board. If this doesn't work I may go to a bimini. I have talked to Joe Kidd and Fran Lebowitz who have both moved their mainsheet control to the aft end and are happy with the move. Based on reading the old files, some others have also made the move. If I am not mistaken both Joe and Fran simply added a fiddle block with cleat and swivel between the traveler and the aft block on the boom. While I haven't purchased one yet, it appears that the Harken Little Fiddle block (057 through 060) or the Schaefer #303-75 Fiddle Block with swivel shackle and cleat would both work. I am sure other fiddle blocks would work as well. I gather that a boom vang would probably be needed if the mainsheet is moved as the boom would be free to rise while going downwind. Evidently the Potter 15's have a mainsheet set-up similar to the M15 and while some of those folks have moved the controls aft as noted above, others have installed a Ronstan pivoting base block with C-cleat (WM 2002 catalog page 1008) to the middle of the boom and controlled the mainsheet from there. I don't know if anyone in this group has used this method but I would be interested in opinions as to how it would work on an M15. Best of luck on whatever you decide. Don Olson M15 Phoenix, Az.
