Race notice- Wrinkleboat Regatta, Lake Pleasant, AZ, Feb 17-18 (About a half hour N of Phoenix). Hi- this is a great race that has been running for many years, usually drawing 12 to 14 entries; so far all Montgomerys and Sages. Weather is usually crisp in the morning and evening, and t-shirt and shorts weather during most of the day. Bring sunscreen! On a typical day, winds are maybe 10 or 12 knots in the morning, and dropping during the day. This race is actually held by the Arizona Yacht Club and is a fund raiser for leukemia, and raises a significant amount of money. We (trailer sailors) have our own class and are typically one of the largest classes. It’s done on the Portsmouth Number handicap, which is very accurate for our kinds of boats. Most of the boats are from AZ and CA, but each year we get a few from “up North”, who are getting out of the snow for the Winter; The Arizonians call them Snowbirds. From Sacramento, it’s about a 14 hour drive but with very little traffic. I happen to love the desert so it’s a drive I look forward to. If you need, feel tree to PM me at Jerry@jerrymontgomery.org. If you want to ring up the AYC website, look for Leukemia Cup. We’re inviting the Potters and others; the more the merrier. I just submitted a feature article to Small Craft Advisor Mag that describes this race among others; it might be in the upcoming issue. Or not. Hope to see you there; it’d be great to get about 20 boats. Jerry
