Hi Bones, We are having a mast built by Buzz at Ballenger Spars. Once it is built, we will tow the boat down to his shop to save on shipping. Also, there is really not a good way to get it up into its normal trailering position without help. Buzz will remove the old mast and recycle it and then put the new mast on. Washington state has a a law that when a boat is valued at less than 10K, a salvage title is not required. So…we will get the boat inspected by a marine surveyor and then reinsure it. In the meantime, we took the total loss payment and there is enough money to fix the mast and then some. I thought I would use the opportunity and buy a new outboard. It seems to good to be true, but it is actually true. Other than the pain and suffering of getting the new mast built, the boat will be better for it. The trip down to Ballenger is 800 miles.
