Thanks Tod for the links -- this is exactly what I was looking for! However, one BIG thing is troubling me. Am I completely nuts?? Is it not true that, as your vessel turns more off the wind, assuming no easing of the sheets, that tension on the sheets would INCREASE? and vice versa, that as your vessel points more to weather, assuming no trimming of the sheets, that the tension on the sheets would decrease? Obviously I must be wrong about that or else, if I am interpreting all the pictures (both yours and others') correctly they rely on the opposite assumption, that tension on the main sheet will decrease as you start to point more off the wind. So all I want to know is, is my assumption incorrect, or am I mis-interpreting the pictures? It looks to me that in your picture, for instance, if the tension on the sheet INCREASED it would point you MORE AWAY from the wind. is that right? -- Steve McClellan 1981 M15 #152 stevemc35@attbi.com
