Is there such a thing as too many boats?
Hi Ron, Yes I saw Rodney Holland's post about his M17 being for sale. It does sound like a well maintained boat and just the ticket for me. But; I'm in Fredonia, NY over three days drive away unless I run into any blizzards. Closer to home there is a 1976 M17 at Hoopers in Afton, MN which is still a hike at 900 miles but I'm seriously considering going out there anyway to look at it next week. The other minor glitch, relatively speaking, is that if I want to be financially responsible I should sell the Nimble before buying another boat. But whoever said buying a boat was a sane financial undertaking. I live in fear that I might get carried away and start collecting boats. That would be the logical sequel to my fishing reel craze, over 500, from ones that would fit in the palm of your hand to ones as big as your head. And before that it was large format cameras. So I have good reason to be cautious about this boat thing. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fair tide and a steady breeze, Nick
Nick, I fully understand, My bride was on me to pare down the fleet of boats until I sold the Boston Whaler Harpoon. There is a 21 foot pontoon party barge, my Montgomery 17, a cyclone 14 (lazer type), a fatty knees 9 row/sail dinghy and a pedal powered kids boat. All different boats with different purposes. With 11 grandkids and a waterfront house, I have had all the boats in use at once when the family was here for holidays. Five of the Grandkids are good sailors and the younger ones love the pedal boat. So, my 5 boats plus Son In Laws fishing boat is just about the right number for us.
