Hello everyone. I just started sailing last summer. Just a little. Bought a small open bow 14 footer built for 2. It was full of holes and a mess. Had it in the garage thru the winter, fixed it all up and painted it. It turned out really nice, but almost instantly I wanted a little bigger boat. Something to take my grand kids out on. I saw a Montgomery for the first time a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it. I live in Alaska and soon found out there was only a handful up here. I just couldn't believe it when one showed up on Craigslist yesterday. It's in my driveway now and I couldn't be more excited. Wayne Palmer, Ak Sent from Wayne's iPad
Wayne, It's nice to have you aboard!! You'll love the Monty. I live on the east coast and when I saw my first Monty, I wanted one too. The closest I could find was KY. One phone call later, I was making plans for a road trip and I've never looked back. I'm sure you and the grand kids will make many memories on you new purchase. Best of luck! Welcome to the crew, Wayne. I saw my first Montgomery, an M15, in our marina in 2007, when I was looking for a boat to enhance my retirement. By blind luck I found a 2-year-old M17 for sale barely 15 miles from my house. Debated for about 30 seconds and bought it on the spot. Still love it and sail as often as possible, in fact I was out yesterday. You'll never regret it, Rick M17 #633 Lynne L On Fri, Jul 17, 2015 at 5:33 AM, Skip Campion via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

Welcome Wayne, I'm envious of your quick score there in the vastness of Alaska! Montys can be hard to come by, as others' welcome notes indicate. If I eventually get up to visit your state, I may ask if I can help you sail yours sometime... :-) cheers, John S. On 07/16/2015 10:23 PM, Wayne Martin wrote:

Thanks to all for the kind words. I am always glad to host visitors to Alaska. I have lived here all my life and it is a spectacular place. Pretty short season for sailing, but an awesome place non the less. So when I have questions, do I just send out a group email? Is that how this works? My boat is a 15 and built in the early 80's. Yellow stripe. Thanks in advance, Wayne Sent from Wayne's iPad

Wayne, You are correct. Just ask a question and someone will respond. The beauty of this site is the information avalable and shared by experienced sailors. As a bonus, the original builder of your boat is an active member of this list. Yesterday there was a thread going around about updating the standing rigging of an M-15 and Jerry gave his expert opinion. You can't do any better then that!! Hi Connie, Yes, I remember those balmy summer days in the woods around your area. Some of my relatives still live in that area. Sadly, I am in South Texas now, melting. Hunting and hiking in the Connecticut woods as well as sailing on its lakes were such pleasures. thanks for your mentioning Conn. It stirred some fond memories.
