Hi Craig, I do just as you do - I use Firefox most of the time, but hang onto IE and Safari just in case. Besides, I like the way IE can download a whole web page as a WAFF file - that's the feature I miss most about IE now that I no longer use it regularly. AND I have a Mac! So we're not out of luck after all :-) On Jan 22, 2005, at 1:15 PM, Craig F. Honshell wrote:

Hey Craig, No worries. I think we Mac users sometimes do get a wee bit tired of people - oftentimes tech "expert help" people at that - taking the easy out. By that I mean that as soon as you say that you have a Mac, they instantly try to blame the problem on that even when it's patently obvious that that's not the case. I actually had my ISP try to blame a recent wireless e-mail problem on my Mac. As if. I had to explain to them how it couldn't possibly have anything to do with my Mac, as the problem duplicated itself when I used Webmail on a Windows machine. Cripes. Not that Macs are flawless - they're machines that have their problems, as are all computers. And I'm not an expert by any means. I know much more about the mechanics of my car than I do about my computer. Anyway, I wasn't offended ... much ;-) Although I admit that that "out of luck" comment did prompt my reply :-) At least M-boats don't come with two or three different operating systems! --- Rachel
Sorry Craig. Didn't mean to freak you out. But as Rachel points out, us Mac users are a bit sensitive about being fall guys for problems unrelated to our computers. Peace, love, and Macs--Bob Olson Craig F. Honshell wrote:

So, after two months of fixing and adding stuff to my new (old) Monty 15, I think I'm finally ready to put it in some water. For the curious (and picture hungry), here's a brief list of stuff that I did; -- Rebuilt delaminated centerboard -- Re-faired the keel -- fixed rotten core under mast step and bow cleat -- Fixed adjustable motor mount and added access port -- Built new hatchboards (thanks Rachel for your Starboard suggestion) -- Added Jib downhaul -- Did major clean up and ding repair -- refinished all the teak 'Course, I was in school full time, so it took awhile. ;-) Here's a link to a few shots. http://www.users.qwest.net/~bobo4u/monty_pix.html Wish I had had these available when I was trying to figure some of this stuff out. Correction, Thanks to Rachel for pointing out that Maria Jorge gets the credit for the Starboard suggestion; "Starboard is the copyright name of marine grade polymer sheets commonly used in the marine industry in place of teak on boats. It is easy to work with using standard tools, stands up to UV rays and is practically maintenance free. Here is the website: www.kingstarboard.com. West Marine carries it but it is expensive. I would look around for other sources such as someone who sells plastic sheeting. It will never have the beauty of teak but I like the fact that it is maintenance free. Re-doing the teak toerails and other trim on my M17 has been enough work. The tan color contrasts nicely with the vertical teak trim on the companionway." Maria Well, at least I got the Gender right. BTW, I found a place that sells teak in small quantities (plywood and lumber) at reasonable prices. Check out www.buckwoodcraft.com. Also, Marisafe.com is the best place to buy starboard. --Bob On Jun 16, 2005, at 7:18 PM, Irvin Kooris wrote:
