I personally wouldn’t sail it; if it came down it cold mess someone up, not to mention the mast and boat. I second Jerry's opinion. I had the experience of not getting my forestay properly clipped on to the bow cleat, and when it came down it necessitated motoring back in the marina, then some expenses at their repair shop because the falling mast did some damage to the top of the cabin. Will not go into the hassle it also involved. Get the forestay replaced before you sail again. I would get all the shrouds and the forestay replaced at the same time. I did that on old M15 189 when I bought her. Just real simple insurance.
