Robbin, How goes the battle with the dilemma around the mast base?? Sean
Hi Sean, I will have a chance to go to the marina this weekend with rotozip in hand. I figure I should find out what is below the sole portion that was pushed up and cracked. I plan on putting in a wood sole at some point anyway ( I have put in real wood floors through our whole house so the sole would be like doing a closet right? Ha ha) so I do not think having a cut in the sole should be of any long term consequence. And an access hatch might be good to have in the sole anyway. I don't like not being able to get at any area of the boat. I also want to drill a few exploratory holes in the keel just to be sure that the ballast is dry. Again, plugging these back up with some epoxy is in the noise compared to knowing that the inside of the keel is dry. I am about to start the barrier coating so now would be a good time. Hope that you are still getting in some sailing before the AZ summer hits! Thanks Robbin On 4/15/2011 10:45 AM, Nebwest2@aol.com wrote:

Robbin, I would strongly suggest that if you have access to a vibrating multitool that you switch tools. The Roto Zip will work fine, but straight lines are a challenge and being a high velocity tool, it will spread fiberglass dust into every nook and cranny of both you and the boat. The multitool with a fine toothed blade is easy to control and generates a minimum amount of dust. Thanks Earl, sounds like an excellent suggestion. I will pop over to Home Depot and be headed to the marina with a vibrating multitool! Robbin On 4/15/2011 12:53 PM, Earl Landers wrote:
