Good morning all, For the time being, I am probably the newest Montgomery 17 owner. I travelled up to Sister Bay, WI to pick up hull #66 on Wednesday. The trip back was quite an adventure, as we had heavy weather in northern IN & I made it all the way back ... until at 12:30 a.m. I sat, spinning my tires, in the snow and ice in the driveway. We hauled it out of the snow yesterday. I'm hoping she sails better in the water than she does in the snow! This is my first boat. I've sailed on small local lakes, Lake Michigan and the Gulf of Mexico, near St. Pete. There are a few repairs to be done on her. The gelcoat has a couple dings which should probably be fixed. The 2-cycle motor wouldn't start at the marina, but I'm going to clean it up and see if it can't be fixed. The trailer could be sanded/sandblasted and weather protected/galvanized. And the electrical system needs to be replaced. Looks like I'll be busy. I downloaded the entire email archives and will be searching them for helpful hints. I plan on heading for the FL Gulf Coast as soon as I can fix some of these things. As of March 1, I have 6 months off work, and this boat is my keep-busy project. I'd love to hear from Montgomery owners in FL. Donald Miller #66 "Coquette" ===== "Life moves pretty fast.
