San Francisco sailor looking to take a ride on an M-15 or M-17
Hi Everyone. I'm a San Francisco Sailor and a friend and I are interested in purchasing an M-15 or M-17. Before we do, we thought we'd see if it might be possible to take a ride on one of these boats and get to know it a bit. I've reached out to the Bay Area WWPotter list as well in case anyone there has a tip. We'd be happy to pay for an afternoon sail if that makes a difference. If you, or anyone you know might be willing/able to spend a couple of hours with a couple of nice gentlemen and show them your boat and talk shop, we'd be very much obliged. Thanks, Thom Loftus
Thom, Ever travel to the Puget Sound area? There are several of us M-owners in this area, and the sailing conditions might be similar to what you can expect in the San Fransisco Bay area, just a bit colder, and about 1000 miles to the North (we are between 47-49 N lattitude here). Contact me if you get to this area. Are you hoping to watch the America Cup on San Fransisco Bay from your own boat in September? Hi Steve. Thanks for the reply. I've spent some time in Seattle and my sister used to live in Tacoma. I love it up there and often dream about an extended sailing trip exploring the nooks and crannies of Peugot Sound. It's definitely at the top of the list when we find our Montgomery. My friend Michael and I are up for a road trip to retrieve the boat once we find her, so it's quite possible we'll find ourselves heading toward Seattle. I'll be sure to drop you a line if we find ourselves heading that way. Thanks again. Thorn, I live in San Luis Obispo and have an 07 M 17. I may be bringing it up to Oakland for the sail show and the Nor'sea rendezvous at the Oakland yacht club. Not sure if I can get the time off yet, but if you would like to try out the boat ill mail you when I know for sure. Hi Dave and thanks for the reply. Was planning on attending the boat show as well, so if you find yourself able to make it, please do drop a line and perhaps we can go for a sail. best, Thom ________________________________ From: "davidplatt93405@yahoo.com" <davidplatt93405@yahoo.com> To: Thom Loftus <thom_loftus@yahoo.com>; For and about Montgomery Sailboats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, March 23, 2013 1:27 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: San Francisco sailor looking to take a ride on an M-15 or M-17 Thorn, I live in San Luis Obispo and have an 07 M 17. I would be happy to do so. I live in Sebastopol, about 1 hour north of sf. I sail usually in Tomales bay. I have M15 #208 "Kestrel." You can see video about my boat on my blog at http://danielsailingandcycling.wordpress.com/ I can be reached at 707-479-2919 Daniel Sent from my iPhone On Mar 23, 2013, at 11:26 AM, Thom Loftus <thom_loftus@yahoo.com> wrote: Hi Everyone. Hi Daniel and thanks for the reply! As it turns out, I'm quite familiar with your you tube videos. I have enjoyed them in my research about Montgomery boats. When I posted my inquiry, I thought to myself, "I wonder if that guy from Sonoma with that beautiful boat Kestrel will reply". I spend a lot of time in Pt. Reyes and have always wanted to sail on Tomales Bay. If you're game, then let me have a chat with my friend Michael this week and see when he's free. Perhaps we can treat you to lunch. Thanks again and I'll be in touch.
