Re: M_Boats: buying sight unseen
Hi Ernie, For what it's worth............ After owning a Bolger MICRO, then a ComPac 16, I finally settled on the M15 as a solution to my problems. (Primarily stepping a free standing 23 foot solid spruce spare on the MICRO. The ComPac with an aluminum mast solved the mast stepping problem but it had no usable storage and sailed upwind like a dog) When I found my M15 (via the M-web site) it was in Panama City, FL. I bought it sight-unseen, and made about a 2600 mile round trip to pick it up. It more than met all my expectations, - and is a great boat. Having a shop; having owned boats for 40 years; and having built a few myself, there was nothing I was afraid to tackle if need be. I had totally stripped, rebuilt, and repainted the ComPac. The M15 was in excellent shape, when I first saw it; as were the sails, and the 2 HP HONDA outboard. The trailer had tires with sidewall cracks, but it also a spare tire and wheel, and I had no problem at all driving all the way back to Connecticut. However, once home, I replaced the rusty wheels and the tires with cracks with new ones. The M15 is a great ship: excellent storage; sails very well............ If I were looking for another I'd jump at almost anything available out there. Connie M15 #400 LEPPO Glastonbury, CT
