OK I ordered the new 150 Genny (drifter) from E-P for Sweet Dream. (Red in color - not tan bark) Who runs a 150 on an M-15? Where did you put the bullseye/ camcleats for the sheets? How long are the sheet? Did you use 5/16" or 3/8" yachtbraid? Did you add a ginpole and what kind. The only picture I've run across on the web was Vainilla who has cheek blocks on tracks on the combing about halfway back, running to bullseye fairleads up at the forward end ot the cockpit. Thanks in advance for any input. Fair winds Don
Don, My M-15 came with a 150 +/- light air sail. I am the 2nd owner so I don't know for sure, but am pretty sure this big sail came with the boat. And the boat came setup accordingly. All 3 of my sails are still the original and came from Kerns in S. Calif. We sail M-15 #407, 1988 model. The way the 150 works on our boat is; the sheets pass through cheek blocks (mounted on the top of the coamings) and travel forward to tie-off on Jam Cleats also mounted on the tops of the coamings. The cheek blocks are 14", to the center, from the stern and the Jam Cleats are 47", to the center, from the stern. The sheets are 20 ft. each, I just measured them because I have to replace them. A looog time ago I shortened these sheets as I had a lot excess when using the 150. Recently I purchased a whisker pole and now find they are a tad short when the 150 is poled out. The original sheets are 3/8" maybe 1/2" but they are a loose weave and a light type of rope. By light I mean that they are physically light in weight, about 1/4 the weight you would expect for a typically yacht braid of this diameter. Hope this helps, let me know if I can provide more info. If you are going to use the genoa for mostly off the wind, sheet it to the toe rails. If you are going to use it for mostly upwind (unlikely for a drifter), put the track on the outside of the coamings.
