Re: M_Boats: Bow chocks for M17 with aluminum toe-rail.
Hi Monty Gang, I found a picture of the cleat/chock arrangement I now have on my M17. See attached. Very nice, Bones, Elevating the cleats off the deck allows you to get your hands down there and work the line around the horns. This is on my list of things to do also. Nice to see how good it will look when I am done. Is your anchor roller stem head fitting a custom casting? Want to do that also to mine, looks like another great idea. I wonder if installing a bail over the anchor rode notch so as to keep the line where it belongs on the sheave would be worth it. Perhaps a ss strap with a delrin wear collar underneath it for chafe protection of the rode. Fair winds Tom B On Sat, Mar 8, 2014 at 1:44 PM, bownez@juno.com <bownez@juno.com> wrote:

That is a very handsome installation Bones. Most of my prior boats have had one or two cleats centered on the foredeck and chocks on, in or next to the toe-rails a little aft of the bow. I'll probably just stick with that layout, upgrading the existing cleat to a larger Herreshoff-style one and mounting the chocks on teak pads just inside the toe-rails. I did think about clipping the mooring pendant to the bow-eye, but I think that would be too awkward in my case. ----- Original Message ----- From: bownez@juno.com To: "montgomery boats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, March 8, 2014 2:44:36 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: Bow chocks for M17 with aluminum toe-rail. A permanently attached short pendant on the bow eye that is brought to the bow cleat for securing when not in use at the mooring…that can efficiently be hitched or shackled to the mooring pendant…and brought back up to the cleat when leaving the mooring...if not too much of a PITA underfoot when visiting the foredeck when not moored…might solve your problem.
