I just bought a 4-stroke outboard. The owner's manual requires a 10-hour break-in period. I hadn't planned to put 10 hours on ANY motor for the rest of my sailing life: a. Is 10 hours of break-in necessary and b. If so, how do I operate the motor for 10 hours w/out outboarding across Lake Michigan? Jerry May just confirmed for me what I've read elsewhere, that a 4-stroke vibrates quite a bit at any speed because of its 1-cylinder configuration: Is there any motor-mount/transom treatment that can "dampen" the vibration?
