Hello Jerry! Yes! Someone said you only made a few with the fixed keel? I lived in a tent in a friend's backyrd for 6 months while I was looking for the "right" boat until one day I stopped by McWayne and there it was up on a cradle getting her keel attached! I climbed up and that was all she wrote! I just loved that boat. It toatally kicked butt even in the rough waters there. i always felt the molded lapstake hull was the only reason the boat put up with the beatings I put her through! lol Thanks for making her and giving me the experience. You rock! Doug Rinaldo
Hey Doug, that was a good story. ! I also know of some people (a couple actually) that lived on a 1986 Montgomery 17 for 6 months while their new home was being built. They said the best times of their lives were on that boat. The boat was at a marina with shorepower and bathrooms and hot showers a few steps away down the ramp. They had a custom boom tent for those rainy days. Do you have any photos of your fixed keel Montgomery 17 in Hawaii? We do have the keel mold for a fixed keel (fiberglass V shaped keel, lead filled) Montgomery 17, but no one has ever ordered one. It would require a custom trailer, etc. I'll bet you have some fond memories of that time in your life. It must have been simple and relaxing. Fair winds Bob RINALDO698@aol.com wrote:
