Re: M_Boats: Roller
A rake is a great idea. I have a boarding ladder but don't want to swim to shore. I will bring my kayak as a dinghy. Maybe do a Mediterranean tie. How far is the spot from Lake Pleasant marina and RV resort?? What type of roller or cushion to protect from small rocks in the shallow water when beaching. I see West Marine has a roller but its inflatable and I don’t see that working. Actually theirs is for the beach sand. This one has to sink and stay on the bottom so the boat rolls up over it as it moves towards the shore in shallow water, less than one foot. Thanks. I was wondering about PVC, like 4” PVC but it seems that it would have to be covered in something so the boat would not slide off of it as it rolled forward. Maybe a carpeted 4”x4’ PVC tube would work. Got any ideas.
Doug: On the Montgomerys and Sages I've done a Med tie putting the transom in a foot or so of water. I've then used the transom ladder and I waded ashore in calf deep water. :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com On Tue, Nov 27, 2018, 7:31 AM Doug <doug9326@gmail.com wrote:

This is what I am thinking too. I can easily get on and off the boat with my new transom ladder. If the wind comes up big time the boat can get blown around and I don’t want that. I am bringing a 30 pound anchor and a lighter one plus a long line to go to shore to a tree or rock. I plan to sleep on the boat so I am hoping we have enough wind to sail but no more. Gotta sleep.

30 is a bit of an overkill. ~5-7# with 20' of chain plus 200' of rose is what I've used on my M15 and M17 and on the Sage 17/15/SC. In the end though you want what makes you sleep well! :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com On Tue, Nov 27, 2018, 9:08 AM doug <doug9326@gmail.com wrote:
