I'm interested in a shroud (my 2 shrouds and the forestay are the same - 1/8 dia, 15' 5" pin to thimble), 2 pintles, 2 gudgeons. And any other spares you think I should carry on board/are prone to damage/loss/failure. August & Susan: you can get information on jerry's prices for replacement M15 standing rigging here - http://jerrymontgomery.org/mboat.html jerry also discusses the length's for the standing rigging wire (your M15 is one of the early boats ... which is why the shrouds and forestay are the same length). there was an 'almost' standing rigging failure on an M15 at HPCC 2011 (if i remember the event i was attending correctly) - one of the M15s almost lost the rig because the locknut (nylock) that holds the forestay/shrouds to the mast came loose. i suggest everyone check the tightness before raising the mast. good items to have on board for standing rigging are an extra pivot bolt and nut for mast/tabernacle. a good number of correctly sized clevis pins and cotter keys are always good items to have. can never go wrong having some extra line in one of the lockers. go around the boat and have a few bolts/nuts/washers on board that fit the sizes you find for fastening hardware. do your pintles and gudgeons show signs of pending failure (rusting, cracking, etc)? don't forget to have a repair kit on-board for your outboard. this includes a spare, and correctly gaped, sparkplug. have a small tool kit on board. i'm sure all the above are things you have on-board your 22 Nonsuch. jerry's rigs are not complicated ... which is good because simple means less likely to break (IMO). :: Dave Scobie :: former M15 owner - www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred :: Sage Marine --- On Sat, 1/21/12, August Trometer <atrometer@gmail.com> wrote:

Last sumer I had a shroud failure and demasted in Barnegat bay, the shroud were about six month old, wind was about 12-15 m/h i was in a broad reach with full sails including genny. The failure was close to the mast attachment at the top. No idea what happened OVelez M-15 ________________________________ From: August Trometer <atrometer@gmail.com> To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Saturday, January 21, 2012 7:16 PM Subject: M_Boats: 1982 Monty 15' #227 I'm interested in a shroud (my 2 shrouds and the forestay are the same - 1/8 dia, 15' 5" pin to thimble), 2 pintles, 2 gudgeons. i am sure that was not a fun experience! just wanting to know if you can share more - so you lost the rig and couldn't inspect to see if the wire broke, fitting broke, or the thru-bolt where the shrouds & forestay come together failed? :: Dave Scobie :: Sage Marine --- On Sun, 1/22/12, Orlando Velez <velezo1@yahoo.com> wrote:
