Arnold, I use a Moeller 3 Gallon tank. It's a tight squeeze, but it slides in. I'm guessing the stern locker on your M17 has the same dimensions as mine, a 2008. I didn't measure. I also have enough room to put in two smaller 2 gallon tanks in behind to use as a reserve. Hope this helps.
