Hi Steve / Sandra The 2 HP HONDA can only be laid down on one side. There are warnings about that in the Owner's Handbook. I don't know what happens if the motor is laid down on the "wrong" side - oil leaking out through a breather perhaps....? My motor always lies on it's proper side during the winter or in the boat being transported from A to B, and I've never lost oil, nor had to add any oil during a sailing season. Check your Handbooks for the proper way to do it. Connie
