Re: M_Boats: toe rail strength
I've done that with my M17. No problem. Larry On Sun, 25 Jan 2004 01:22:01 -0500 "MC" <southisland2@earthlink.net> writes:
I asked if it was so, But no answer as yet, , a local yard told me that the toe rail on the Monty 17 was strong enough that with four equal points of lifting the toerail could easily hold the boat in the air with out damage. He suggested that the factory may do that to move the boats during construction process, I have never been to the factory so I'm not sure if its correct or not. Now I see a picture on the net where a Monty 15 is being held in the air by that method, what gives, ???

yes! its would seem like a quick way to get to the hull for painting, waxing or repairs centerboard without the wide straps being in the way. Last time the straps left a sad mark on the upper hull that now needs to be gel coat repaired. One of those quick hoist that they use for engines blocks would be great way to do it. This boat yard really guy liked many of the features of the Monty 15 and 17 except one.
