I was the only boat on 13.5 mile long Lake Wallenpaupak in NE Pa. Winds were about 10 mph, rain was light, and the sail was perfect. I have not gotten the trolling motor out from down below yet this year. Smaller is definately better. I am still a relatively new Montgomery owner and have a question regarding position of the boom with the sail raised and sheeted fairly close. Is the boom lower at the aft end than at the gooseneck? Older M17 owners: Does your cast-iron centerboard protrude from your keel at all when fully retracted and resting on your trailer's keel roller?
Yes mine does. -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats-admin@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:montgomery_boats-admin@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of Honshells Sent: Monday, September 02, 2002 2:23 PM To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Subject: M_Boats: Older M17 Centerboard Older M17 owners: Does your cast-iron centerboard protrude from your keel at all when fully retracted and resting on your trailer's keel roller? _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats
yes about 1/ 4-1/ 2 inch ron and cat "hula pie" 1974 M17 #025
Thanks, Ron and Irv: I was afraid I had an obstruction that was preventing complete retraction. I guess there's some comfort in being able to inspect a bit of the board when the boat is out of the water. --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "ron and cathryn goodspeed" <rcgoodspeed@mac.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, September 02, 2002 2:21 PM Subject: Older M17 Centerboard yes about 1/ 4-1/ 2 inch ron and cat "hula pie" 1974 M17 #025
My 1983 M17 has the cast iron cb and it protrudes slightly (less than an inch, I believe). She's currently not on her trailer, so I am unable to be more precise. Mark Dvorscak
