Good Evening Skippers On M15 at 4 knots how much run time do you get per tank of gas? Thanks Captain Jim SV Pelican Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef>
Way too many factors in that question. Average run time at low throttle is an hour for me, I don’t watch the speed though, I’m trying to save gas. How much weight are you carrying? Is there opposing wind? Contrary current? How is the boat trimmed, are you sitting well forward? Crew or no crew? Motor sailing? Lots of things go into an answer and it will vary by boat, skipper, and conditions. Plan on 45 mins to be safe, worst case could be 30 or less. www.rustyknorr.weebly.com

Jim: My long experience with the Honda 2/2.3 is that at 1/2-2/3 throttle cruising speed the motor will run for slightly over an hour. My practice is to plan for an hour per tank. This roughly equivalent to being 4 hours per gallon. Distance isn't part of this equation as there are too many factors that will change boat speed over ground: current, wind, chop, etc. My practice has always been to fill the tank every 45 minutes. This means you don't run the motor dry and it will therefore restart quickly once refilled. If you run the motor dry it takes multiple pulls to get it to fire. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: Baba 30 #233 DEJA VU :: former owner SV SWALLOW - sailboatswallow.wordpress.com/ :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com On Wed, Mar 20, 2024, 22:57 Jim Sadler <jimsadler@jascopacific.com> wrote:

Hi guys, my M15 cockpit drain got clogged sitting in Fla boat yard, I was able to remove factory screen and knob and clean out, is that drain like a ball and cock one way valve that let's the M15 cockpit drain down and around swing keel, its obviously a one way valve not letting water back into cockpit, does that pretty much sum up how it functions? Thank you all! Robert/M15 Fla On Thu, Mar 21, 2024, 9:17 AM Dave Scobie <scoobscobie@gmail.com> wrote:

The centerboard pendant tube is the cockpit drain, no valves or other complications involved. The cockpit floor is above the waterline and that prevents water coming back up. With more than two people sometimes water gurgles up through the cockpit drain, so bring dry socks... On Thu, Mar 21, 2024 at 6:34 AM Robert Tintera <tinterapalmisle@gmail.com> wrote:

The ‘screen’ is not factory installed and will exacerbate clogging. Keep area clean and it will drain well. Have fun, go sail! GO On Thu, Mar 21, 2024 at 7:17 AM Jasper Greve <jasper.greve@gmail.com> wrote:

Robert: The stock Montgomery 15 cockpit drain has no valve. It is the same hole used to control the centerboard control line. Nothing fancy, just gravity moves water down past the centerboard. From your writing it seems you have a prior owner modification. Some details and pictures would help the group provide you assistance on what was done and can be done to solve any issues. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: Baba 30 #233 DEJA VU :: former owner SV SWALLOW - sailboatswallow.wordpress.com/ :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com On Thu, Mar 21, 2024, 06:34 Robert Tintera <tinterapalmisle@gmail.com> wrote:
