I'm about to order a Bruce 11 pound anchor through West Marine for my M15. An 11 pound Bruce seems rather overkill and too large for the M15 but I don't want to go through another overnight anchoring experience using the Danforth . The Danforth is great for San Francisco Bay where I daysail but I can't get it to hold well on overnight trips to Northern California Lakes. Past postings indicate that it's impossible to locate an 4 or even a 8 pound Bruce. Is it possible to find a 10 pound CQR? Rich, Have you tried double anchoring on those lakes ? Rather than using an oversized and difficult to stow Bruce, try augmenting your Danforth with a handy 8 or 10# Mushroom. The mushroom is great by itself for lunch or potty breaks and stows easily. For long term holding power, set your Danforth properly then hook the mushroom onto your rode with a Quick Link or snap and a light line and let it ride down the rode to where the rode meets the chain. It will keep the tension on the chain and keep it on the bottom while your boat shifts about. With the correct scope, you will hold well on just about any bottom material. Stan M-15, #177, Carol II
