Hi All, I received an E-mail with photos from Kendall who lives in Bossier City, Louisiana. Let me say I believe this may be the best (worse) case of M-boat neglect ever witnessed. I promise to make a page on the Photo Site for this boat as she is resurrected. I'll include the before photos which are only believable when seen. Anyway, Kendall needs advice and he is asking the right group. Let's see what we can do to get yet another M15 back on the water. Kendall has subscribed to the list, but his first post included photos and may not have made it to the group. I'm copying and including his first post: "A woman that moved to Texas offered my family her sailboat. I was not aware what a M-15 even was. Here are the pics of us cutting 5 trees to get it out. It had been parked since 1985. One tree was larger than 10" at the base. It was growing up thru the front of the trailer. The mainsail and the trolling motor were in the front of the cabin. We have been waiting on her to produce a registration and title before we spent money on it. She called last week with good news! She found it. We rescued it from the woods...now what? Best thing to clean the hull with? What will make it white again? Wood on interior rotted. Cabin door trashed. Cushions functional but nasty. Engine probably inop. Where can I purchase new (or gently used) sails? How can I make the exterior wood look good again? The top of the CB is broken. How can I fix it? Can I purchase a replacement? Should I replace the cables? I can't wait for decent weather! I want to clean the hull out with the pressure washer and shop vac. I'm glad I found MSOG. Please help me. Thanks, Kendall
The top of the CB is broken.
look forward to this pictures of this. how can one break the top?!
Can I purchase a replacement?

Kendall used the photos to explain rather than words. Imagine this: During the past 24 years mother nature has done her best to make this boat return to the earth, Kendall mentioned 5 big trees and a 10" tree growing through the trailer frame. However he did not mention the smaller trees growing in the leaf duff in the cockpit or the ones growing out of the side lockers. He mentioned rotten wood, but he did not say disintegrated. As I said, I promise to put the photos on the site, you wont believe it. My comment was... "At least you are in it right. Free is a great place to start"! About the companionway boards. I believe I'd measure the top, middle and bottom and the height and call Bob Eeg at Montgomery Boats to see what he can do to make a new set. Bob will also be the supplier for a new centerboard (949) 489-8227. Or you may want to go to the Maintenance and Modifications page to see how another person did repairs on his CB. Also info on how to change it on those pages. http://www.msogphotosite.com/M15MM.html For advice on hull cleaning and the like I think I'd look up some of Don Casey's books on boat maintenance "101 improvements, Hull and Deck Repair, etc". You could probably get a used one or two at Amazon.com. Or look to www.WestMarine.com <http://www.westmarine.com/> or www.BoatUS.com<http://www.boatus.com/> They will have books that would help. I've always maintained the way to be an expert is to read three books on the subject in mind and then go to work. But first, you are absolutely right: Pressure wash and vacuum every inch to be sure she is worth the effort. You want to be sure you are starting with a sound hull. The rest is just money and elbow grease By the time you are ready for the water, you'll be very familiar with every inch of your new boat. For the companion-way boards, you might also want to contact www.jowoodworks.com ...... VERY good stuff at VERY reasonable prices....... So Bill. I sent you a couple photos and volunteered to write up the stories associated with them. No reply. Did you get what I sent? t On Jan 31, 2008 5:40 PM, Bill Lamica <billamicasr@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Tom, OOPS! I sent the reply to another E-mail address saved in my Gmail. In fact, I just sent out the same message again and looked to see you are on this address instead. If you still use the tsmith@nextit.com address, you'll find the original reply and today's reply. And yes, I got the photos. Bill On 1/31/08, Tom Smith <openboatt@gmail.com> wrote:
