Have any of u skippers taken M15 thru the canal? Where is the launch ramp? What is the cost? Just asking for a friend of mine Capt Jim SV Pelican Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef>
It is more complicated than cost? As I understand it. I will try to find the story of the Norseman 447 that went catastrophically aground because of the pilot services they were forced to use. On Sun, Apr 25, 2021, 9:58 AM Jim Sadler <jimsadler@jascopacific.com> wrote:

There's a good Tarka video about it: https://youtu.be/DUOfhyDoS7A I'm not sure an M15 could maintain the required speed to clear the locks in time? Sam On Sun, Apr 25, 2021, 11:00 AM Gail Russell <gail@zeliga.com> wrote:

I think they may require four line tenders and a helmsperson. That’d really slow down an m15! A spendy endeavor by the time you are done, with all the fees and services. Now could you cruise lake gatum without all the fuss of transiting all the locks on either end? That I’d be curious to know.... On Sun, Apr 25, 2021 at 11:29 AM Sam <shunter@gmail.com> wrote:

I remember Lake Gutun from being in Panama with the U.S. Army over 50 years ago. Back then we used the standard rubber military boats with a big outboard and soldiers in the bow and both starboard and port gunwales with loaded M-14 rifles for defense against crocodiles and other undesirables. Wonder if Lake Gutun is still a dangerous water, not welcoming for M-15 size boats. For Your amusement. I met this person online through a Norseman 447 email list about the time he purchased Third Wish. He has gotten the boat home, but it took quite a while. https://www.sailmagazine.com/cruising/shipwrecked-on-a-panama-canal-transit
