Sorry to hear about the centerboard mishap. I read somewhere Sean said he had some trouble at the ramp but missed what happened. Note to Sean, if I remember correctly John Muller's boat had some sort of access port so he could see inside the trunk. Not sure if it gave him the ability to check or change the cable or not, but you may want to check with him. Jim E M-17 Grace -----Original Message-----

Sean, I can confirm that on the M-17 (steel keel) you can access the pendant attach point if you remove the stop pin. Did this a couple years ago. Hope it works on the 23 as well.

Hello Sean,
Sorry to hear about your 360 lb iron buddy taking a fall, my swing keel has fallen on my M17, but never on my M23. I have not done this (yet), but I seem to recall you can access the keel/pendant point on an M17 by removing the stop pin and carefully lowering the board. Perhaps this is also true with the M23. Is there a way of lowering the swing keel presently? I wonder if you remove the stop pin on the trailer, launch, ease the board down having it rest against a small piece of wood, then possibly view the lanyard attachment point. Do you have the wire/pulley raising system in the locker? I have the bronze ratchet directly above the keel in the salon. I am always very careful lowering and reeling the big iron blade. Idasailor is making replacement parts for the old style ratchet like mine (thank you Joel). I think I would bite the bullet and have a yard sling her so you don't need to attend to this under water. Swing keels have their drawbacks.
Good luck,
