hi sean and all, no sean 's M17 is not the junker that was on MSOG I still have it . it's still a junker the only reason it's not in the dump yet is because I haven't got the time to strip the hardware . to busy fixing other boats and rental property. ( got to earn a living ) . good luck on your rebuild & happy sailing. How are the decks, Sean? Any core issues to deal with? On Thu, Apr 24, 2014 at 7:01 PM, Robbin Roddewig < robbin.roddewig@verizon.net> wrote:

I would like to upgrade my tabernacle and mast step/hinge. Does anyone know the spar model or cross section for the M-23? There appear to be standard tube models at Dwyer and Rig Rite but I do not know which might apply. Thanks Robbin
Robin- I don't remember the name of the section (it was an Alexander Robts) but I do have a spare masthead or two and can send you the measurements. I'm headed for the shop now and will take a note with me. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robbin Roddewig" <robbin.roddewig@verizon.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2014 5:10 PM Subject: M_Boats: M-23 mast cross section or type

According to the masthead casting, the mast would be just under 3.25 wide, and about 5" F-A. If you got a mast step that would clear 3.25 you'd be in business. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robbin Roddewig" <robbin.roddewig@verizon.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2014 5:10 PM Subject: M_Boats: M-23 mast cross section or type

Thanks Jerry! I really appreciate you doing this! I talk with quite a few folks at the marine shops by my marina and they are always to a man(person) very impressed that the builder of my 1978 boat is so active in answering questions and helping sailors. You're the best! Thanks Robbin On 5/8/2014 8:13 PM, jerry montgomery wrote:

I got a hole cut in the floor liner to find what is under the compression post and bulkhead. Pictures and description are at https://picasaweb.google.com/110938325409185510143/M23# Before and after Wednesday night races I was able to get a block of white oak epoxied in place for the compression post to rest upon. This took some doing but now there is a direct load path from where I am going to repair the deck under the tabernacle and the hull/keel of the boat. There was no support under the floor liner where the compression boards rested. But they were tied into the bulkhead which is tied into the ceiling and liner pretty well. I am convinced if the core had not failed this would not have been an issue but since I do not want to depend on the core repair being tied in as well as the original construction to the cabin top I feel better about building up the post support. Progress is being made! Robbin
