HI Gordon, I have a full batton at the top of my mainsail on both my M17 and M23. There have been no issues. I recall the top batton will "kiss" the back stay on the M17 but does not hang up like I have seen on other boats. My M23 sails were made by Sails East out of Chicago, my M17 sails were made by Western Sailcraft out of Jordan, Mn.
