I did the same replacement on our M17 a few years ago and bought the gudgeons for the Catalina 25 which are sized for a half inch rod and have delrin inserts that provide smooth action. They are built well and I recommend them as an option. Our hull number was 32 from 1974 with the sane two gudgeon setup. I also made anew nacra foil rudder from scatch with laminated mahogony. Thanks for the tip, good ideas to keep in mind. Ideally I'll try the stock gudgeons first but good to have an option to improve the action. In particular I don't want to R&R the bottom one since it's in the water most of the time. Are the transom mounting holes an exact match on the Catalina gudgeons, or did you have to re-do the bottom one (fill & drill)? I am hull #38, very close! cheers, John S. I added some thin washers made of teflon to my pintles. Much smoother action! I drilled the holes just slightly smaller than the 1/2 inch pintles so they are a pressure fit and stay on by themselves. <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail> This email has been sent from a virus-free computer protected by Avast. www.avast.com <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail> <#DDB4FAA8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2> On Tue, Feb 2, 2016 at 3:06 AM, John Schinnerer <john@eco-living.net> wrote:

my flush deck has three original gudgeons and a new rudder (sliding). If you still want measurements or inside/outside photos I can shovel the snow from door of the barn to help! Tim J Northern MI On Tue, Feb 2, 2016 at 9:32 AM, Thomas Buzzi <thomaspbuzzi@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks Tim! I think the photos from you and others and the other measurements tell me what I need to know. Top gudgeon will need to move up, bottom can stay where it is, add middle one half way. I'll use the rudder gudgeon locations as mounted to locate exactly. I'll need to move the upper pin on my mast crutch also I realize, plus move the upper pintle on the original rudder up to match new upper gudgeon location. Always a little more work than initially imagined...:-) Nice looking FD by the way! cheers, John S. On 02/02/2016 08:57 AM, Timothy JarviMD wrote:
