I recently bought a 2006 M17. She currently does not have any bottom paint (the hull is in "as new" condition). I plan on mooring the boat at a nearby freshwater lake here in Western Oregon and would like to apply antifouling paint prior. Any recommendations as to what paint I should use as well as how I should prepare the surface and apply the paint? Thanks! Jeff Rodgers
jeff: stan 'paint boy' susman is _the_ resource for paint information on this list ... but here is my opinion. consider Intlux VC-17m - http://www.yachtpaint.com/usa/diy/products/antifouling/vc-17m-extra-with-bio... the above linked page covers application. this product is thin so it is good for application to the centerboard (you don't have much room there to apply lots of thick coats). the product has a hard finish so it will deal well with being on the trailer and will not loose effectiveness if the boat is left out of the water for an extended time. the product do not have 'kill everything' so you may need to pull the boat and give her a cleaning mid-season (depending on location). NOTE - this product cannot be used in California. :: Dave Scobie :: Sage Marine - www.sagemarine.com --- On Sun, 4/22/12, Jeff Rodgers <rodgers65@comcast.net> wrote:
