Re: M_Boats: montgomery_boats Digest, Vol 69, Issue 18
Andrei... Thanks for the compliment on "Seranita". To answer your question, I re-cut new companionway hatchboards from a 4' x 8' piece of marine teak plywood. I simply used the old hatches as a template. Some hardwood vendors will sell you a smaller piece which you should inquire about since the 4'x8' will leave you quite a bit. Of course, you can use the left over for other projects. I prefer Cetol to varnish now that they have come out with their "natural teak" color. I use three coats of "natural teak", sanding lightly between coats, and then 3 coats of Cetol "High Gloss", again, sanding lightly between coats. The results are great. If you look on the Trailer Sailor forum at my post for a Bayfield 25 that I am selling, you will see a photo of the Bowsprit that has fresh Cetol. I think all would agree, that it looks amazing and very traditional. Enjoy... Best, JB On Mon, Nov 10, 2008 at 11:34 AM, < montgomery_boats-request@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

Hi JB,
your boat looks absolutely gorgeous, I'll try to find a local sign maker and do what you did.
Can I ask you what did you use to recoat the wood to give it the nice golden color, and especially how did you repair the hatch boards?
Thanks,
Andrei.

Thanks for all the suggestions on rust removal. I bought a can of ZUD, which lists oxalic acid as an active ingredient, and have some bleach-based toilet bowl cleaner here at home. I'm off today to try them out (unless I end up going sailing, which is quite likely).

Do you know if Bob is following this list? Or should I e-mail him directly? I can't use his guy, unless I'm willing to pay for his $2000 airplane ticket to Wisconsin...

Joe,
I'm sorry, but the order for the shirts is already in and being processed at this point, so I can't add any other items to it. I did get 2- XL short sleeve and 2- xl long sleeve shirts for myself. If one of those will work for ya let me know off list and I can re-allocate one of them to you.
To everyone else that ordered shirts..they are in the process of being printed and as soon as they are ready to go I will stuff the boxes that are sitting here beside me already addressed, and get them sent out to ya.
Thanks,
Sean **************AOL Search: Your one stop for directions, recipes and all other Holiday needs. Search Now. ( http://pr.atwola.com/promoclk/100000075x1212792382x1200798498/aol?redir=http... -aol-search/?ncid=emlcntussear00000001)

My M-15 came with a little stripe about one inch tall in 1981. It was red and I wanted the new stripe to match my new cushions which I changed to blue. I was on a trip in Destin and wandered in to a West Marine store. They sold me a 2" blue vinyl roll 50' long which was plenty to do my M-15. Looks great.
Any decent auto graphics shop can custom make your logo. I'd go local if I was shopping for graphics. There are just to many choices locally to ignore. If you have a problem, you can drop by and they should take care of you.

You can buy vinyl decal in just about any color at the local sign shop my boat came with one on it. But be careful around the dock the vinyl is very easy to nick and then the cream color shows through.
