From the Small Craft Advisor Bulletin Board:
"Regrettably, Cruiser Challenge 2006 has been canceled. A number of factors led to the decision, including the moving of our offices to the Puget Sound area, which made the logistics considerably more difficult for us. As many of you know, although Small Craft Advisor helped start the event, and has been a long term sponsor, it was Judy Blumhorst and the Potter Yachters who carried the load of organizing and running each Cruiser Challenge. Without the tireless volunteer efforts of those folks--we didn't see any way the event could take place this year. We will get together with the Potter Yachters and discuss putting together a Cruiser Challenge for 2007, and we'll announce the decision here as soon as we know." Now if only there were one on the east coast (or midwest).....*sigh*
Well, hell, it ought to be up here in the NW anyway. Wish I were the organizer type, I'd take it on. But, I wouldn't mind being on the support staff. Larry? BTW, check out the Seattle Weekly for an article about Seattle area yacht Racing. More about the iconoclastic spirit of sailors then anything.
