Re: M_Boats: M 17 Ideal Outboard
HI Listers, My Yamaha 4hp 4 stroke LS that I use on my M17 has been flawless. It is a 2000 model (purchased new) and I use it with an external tank. The only feature it is missing is a charging coil. Has anyone ever retro fitted the alternator kit for a Tohatsu 6hp?? I got such a good deal on the one I bought but it didn't have the optional alternator kit. Would really be nice Joe M17 Seafrog #651 ----- Original Message ----- From: bownez@juno.com To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Thursday, March 18, 2010 8:24 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: M 17 Ideal Outboard HI Listers, My Yamaha 4hp 4 stroke LS that I use on my M17 has been flawless. I have a Yamaha 4hp 4-stroke LS on my M17 and it works great. The external tank is important for any but short hops. I use a permanently-mounted 11-watt solar panel to charge my battery. Earlier experience with an outboard with a charging coil convinced me it didn't run enough to keep the battery up. The solar panel is always working in daylight so the battery is always charged. --Gary Hyde 2005 M17 #637 sailboat 'Hydeaway 2' On Mar 18, 2010, at 2:24 PM, bownez@juno.com wrote:

It is a flexible one that just fits on the forward hatch cover. That size in that brand isn't available anymore, but I saw some in West Marine that would probably fill the bill. ⎈--Gary ☺ On Mar 20, 2010, at 1:18 PM, Joe Murphy wrote:
