Re: M_Boats: Lake Champlain Cruise
Hi Rick, I've come down the Hudson from Troy to Staten Island in a sister ship of our Tripp-Lentsch that my daughter's boy friend bought in Rochester, NY. We sailed from Rochester to Oswego; pulled the mast and then went up the Owego Canal to the New York State Barge Canal; and then headed East to Troy. It was a great trip, though mostly under power because we had to be home on time for him to get back to work the following Monday morning. The river is lovely, and I'm sure you'd have a great trip. It's one of those trips to be savored..... If you go upstream with the tide you should be able to make good time over ground. ========= Of course if you have a free summer, you could go up the Hudson; through the New York State Barge Canal to Oneida; then via the Thousand Islands and St. Lawrence River to Montreal. Below Montreal you go into the Canal that takes you to Lake Champlain, and thence back to the Hudson and home. All very doable. You just need the time. Happy dreaming, Connie
