Hello out there in Montgomery country. My boat trailer has a second trailer tongue with ball receiver mounted on the end right next to the regular one with which I tow the trailer. Does anybody have experience with this second trailer tongue? It looks like it will slide out further than the main trailer ball receiver. Is it just there for emergency at the launch ramp such as when you can't gain enough traction to pull the boat out or is it to be used whenever you launch or retrieve the boat? I am considering having a new trailer made of aluminum and am wondering if it is worth the expense of duplicating this second tongue configuration. Fair winds, Tom B M17 #258

Pretty common mod, Thomas. As Larry said, it's for shallow launch areas--gets the boat out farther without having to submerge the tow rig. I added one to an M15 trailer years ago. Never found it particularly necessary, but it's nice to have in a pinch. If you use shallow launch sites, add it to the new trailer, but it doesn't sound like you've needed it thus far. Thanks one and all for the input. The ramps around here (South Texas, Rockport) are pretty steep. How are the launch facilities at Lake Havasu? On Tue, Oct 8, 2013 at 11:05 PM, Tom Smith <openboatt@gmail.com> wrote:

The Havasu ramp is a bit shallow. CB and swing keel boats have no problems. raise the mast in the ramp area. There's an electric wire across the road from the parking lot to the ramp. -----Original Message----- From: jerry@jerrymontgomery.org To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wed, Oct 9, 2013 5:12 am Subject: Re: M_Boats: emails Thery're good, Tom; pretty typical of modern ramps. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Buzzi" <thomaspbuzzi@gmail.com> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 09, 2013 8:20 AM Subject: Re: M_Boats: emails

Someone else will have to pitch in about Havasu. I've never been there... t On Wed, Oct 9, 2013 at 8:20 AM, Thomas Buzzi <thomaspbuzzi@gmail.com> wrote:
