A hose connects these 2 through hulls and a one way Whaler check valve is installed inline between through hulls (to prevent seawater from entering cockpit). This method is similar to new M17's except they have 2 drains/through hulls, one at each end of rear cockpit area; also mounted horizontally, also utilizing one way check valves. I believe this upgrade idea will greatly increase the volume and rate of which water is removed from cockpit. It also removes a through hull that is below water line (original drain).
