I have since had my old jib cut down to about 65% of its original size by having 22" cut off the foot (more like 21  1/2 +/-" at luff and 22" at leach).  With this smaller jib I don't get the excessive heeling, but also keep the center of effort is a little farther back so the helm feels better.
