some folks use a Potter 15 jib as a M15 storm sail. for specific measurement and size options the two sail lofts below know jerry's boats: Harry Pattison at Elliott/Pattison Sailmakers for M15 storm sail options - http://www.epsails.com/contact.htm Judy Blumhorst at Hyde Sails - www.judybsails.com like Mike states, the size and cut of the sail really matters. a good loft, like the ones above, can build a sail that matches your sailing style and cruising location(s). :: Dave Scobie :: Sage Marine --- On Tue, 3/6/12, Michael Murphy <mikeandpaula48@gmail.com> wrote:
I have a very small storm sail for my Monty. The problem that I encountered with it that the center of effort was moved so far forward with it and the main double reefed that I had a neutral or lee helm (winds were 24-26 knots).
I have since had my old jib cut down to about 65% of its original size by having 22" cut off the foot (more like 21 1/2 +/-" at luff and 22" at leach). With this smaller jib I don't get the excessive heeling, but also keep the center of effort is a little farther back so the helm feels better. Mike, "Fionnula"
