Re: M_Boats: Montgomery Specific parts.
Thanks Dave, good call. I don't have a broken casting, I have none at all. The end of the boom has stainless tangs pop riveted on, they bend in to meet up with the universal joint on the sliding gooseneck assembly. The mainsail tack is affixed to a shackle attached to the vertical pin on the gooseneck u joint. It looks like someone just jury rigged it. It's held together all right but doesn't seem right to me. I will take some pics tonight so you can see what I mean. I wonder what a new boom would cost. Mine's warped anyway, but looking at the Dwyer pricing, a new one would be quite expensive. Need to see if Jerry has any old boomends laying around. The boom, like the mast, for the old boats is no longer available.
How badly is it broken? Picture will help in diagnosis of solutions.

Hi all,
Jerry - and everyone else - can you help me identify the section used for a '79 m-17? Looks like probably a Dwyer DM-1 but I'm not positive.
Any input will be most appreciated.
Thanks,

Kevin- It looks like you have one of the 400-some 17's that I made, which don't have too much in common with the eeg-built boats except that they came out of the same molds. If you can be more specific about what parts you need, between Dave, Sage marine, and I, we can probably help.

Most if your boat hardware is Schaefer or Garhauer. There are some custom parts, cleats for example, you need to find an equivalent. Jerry, jerry@jerrymontgomery.org, still has a few of the custom parts.

Mine has the same stainless tangs pop riveted on rather than an end casting. I don’t have access to it right now to verify but what you describe is the same as mine. It has worked ok so far. Henry Monica On Mon, May 7, 2018 at 9:46 AM Dan Farrell <msog@danf.us> wrote:

Sounds more or less like mine also (1974, #38), give or take a few details. Wwill take a look tomorrow and can post pics to verify. Seems like "factory original" on my boat, don't see any signs of anything else having been on my boom. cheers, john S. On 05/07/2018 08:15 AM, Henry Rodriguez wrote:

What you describe is the way Montgomery built them. I have the exact same thing on my 1976 M17. -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats <montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com> On Behalf Of Dan Farrell Sent: Monday, May 7, 2018 10:46 AM To: Msog List <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Subject: Re: M_Boats: Montgomery Specific parts.
