I've been boating all my life and recently sold my perfect and beloved Pearson Ariel, which I owned for more than twenty years. I had trouble letting her go and worried that she wouldn't be taken care of in the manner she was accustomed to. I sold her because, being a yacht club boat, I wanted out of that prison. So, now I want a trailer sailboat, and my short list is M17 and M15. I'm joining this group to hopefully learn more about Montgomery boats and maybe locate one that meets my requirements. I've searched the internet without a lot of success. I'm looking for a loved and well kept yacht and I give my word that I'll only enhance her in the years of my ownership. I'm looking forward to being part of this group. I'm afraid I won't contribute very much, at first, but will lurk and ask questions and hopefully learn a lot about these great little boats. Welcome aboard, Rick, We bought our M-15 new in '81 and the honeymoon isn't over. Stan M-15, #177, Carol II
Rick, great to have you aboard. I own both an Ariel and a Montgomery 17, and between them It is hard to pick a better boat. I would say that the ease of use, the solid feel, the portability of the Montgomery puts it ahead by a nose. Both Lyle Hess and Carl Alberg were masters, and we are blessed to be enjoying the fruits of their brainpower. To view my Ariel, #131, Sea Smoke, you can go to the Ariel website run by Bill Phelon http://www.pearsonariel.org/discussion/showthread.php?s=51d48dab91600b034a08 7042af12806d&threadid=650 in the bulletin boards, or you can go to http://www.geocities.com/sailapearson/ and see her. For my M-17 Osprey II, check out the Boat Pics at MSOG.org http://msog.org/ . Feel free to contact me off list if you would like more info.
